Children's Crisis Outreach Response System (CCORS)

CCORS helps families achieve stability, helps prevent future crises, and helps children remain in their home.

Access to CCORS is available through the Crisis Clinic at 206-461-3222 or 1-866-4CRISIS.

Who is eligible?

  • Children and youth not enrolled in the King County Mental Health Plan (KCMHP) who are
    • up to age 18 and
    • who live in King County
    • their identified caregivers and families (including foster parents)

Mobile crisis outreach

  • Crisis outreach and stabilization services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Specially trained teams will go to the family home or other location as needed in order to help deescalate the situation.
  • The team works with the family to put in place ongoing services and supports to prevent future crises.
  • Outreach services include mental health and suicide risk assessments and links to community resources.

Non-emergent outreach appointments

  • Appointments are provided within 24-48 hours for those families who are not in acute crisis but need quick support and linkage to services.

Crisis stabilization services

  • Based on the family's needs, in-home support is available for up to 8 weeks following the initial acute crisis
  • When there the family is experiencing conflict
  • When the youth is experiencing emotional or behavioral problems,
  • if the youth is at imminent risk of removal from current placement.

Intensive Stabilization Services (ISS)


Who is eligible?

Youth who are enrolled in mental health services through a Medicaid benefit with King County Behavioral Health Organization.

The mental health provider must make the referral.

  • When a mental health clinician has been providing mental health services for a youth and family for at least 2-3 months and the current interventions are not meeting the youth’s needs or there is notable absence of stabilization in the home or current placement, school, or community;
  • Or when there has been a major crisis that has shifted the family’s world such as a DV incident or disclosure of abuse that results in a need for additional safe planning within the home and community. 
  • Once a referral is made the ISS team will contact the clinician and the family and schedule a time to meet the family to discuss an action plan. ISS is provided by a team of professionals including Crisis Intervention Specialists, and or: Family Advocates, a Behavioral Support Specialist, and Parent Partners.
  • Services can last up to 90 days, although the average tends to be about 45 days.  It is also important to note that cases are not kept open for full 90 days if the Action Plan goals are met and the crisis has been stabilized.
  • brief therapeutic interventions,
  • parent skill building,
  • teaching-modeling-coaching skills in the home or community,
  • attending wraparound team meetings,
  • teaming with other professionals and advocating for services, and
  • linkage to other relevant services.
