The King County Council will take an unpaid furlough day on Friday, March 13. The offices of the Council will be closed, along with those of the County Auditor and King County TV.The Clerk of the Council will have staff on duty in Room W-1039 to receive required document filings.
County employees are taking the unpaid furlough as a means to help close the gap in the 2009 King County Budget.
While the Council is closed, other County services will still be available. The Council adopted a ten-day furlough schedule for the legislative branch that is different on two days from the rest of the County, so that staff will be available during the intensive work required on the annual budget later in the year:
