Grainger Crowned “King Critter” by Dunn at the King County Fair

July 16, 2026
Summer Kuzminsky and her dog ‘Grainger’ were awarded the locally prestigious title of “King Critter” by Councilmember Reagan Dunn at the King County Fair this afternoon. Joined by Enumclaw Mayor Anthony Wright and dozens of local officials, Dunn crowned the paw-dacious pooch during the opening ceremony of the 164th King County Fair.
“Crowning the King Critter is always one of the most fun ways to kick off the King County Fair, and Grainger, along with her proud owner, Summer, is a very deserving winner,” said Councilmember Reagan Dunn. “Congratulations to them both! As we continue to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, I encourage families from across King County to come enjoy this great American tradition and join us at the fair through Sunday, July 19.”
The Critter Crowning marks opening day of the King County Fair, which runs from July 16-19 this year. The fair hours are 10 AM – 10 PM on Thursday, July 16th – Saturday, July 18th, and 10 AM – 6 PM on Sunday, July 19th—the fair’s final day.
"The King County Fair is one of Enumclaw's favorite traditions, bringing families together while showcasing the people, farmers, and organizations that keep our agricultural heritage strong," said Enumclaw Mayor Anthony Wright. "We are proud to welcome visitors from across the region to the Enumclaw Expo Center, and I thank Councilmember Dunn for his continued partnership and support. I hope everyone will join us for another unforgettable weekend at the Fair!"
The King County Fair is the oldest fair west of the Mississippi, beginning in 1863. It is a long-standing event held at the Enumclaw Expo Center, featuring numerous attractions including 4-H & FFA exhibits, carnival rides, pig races, kid tractor pulls, chainsaw carving, free musical entertainment, shopping vendors, and a variety of food vendors. The fair is known for its family-friendly atmosphere and a wide range of activities that appeal to all ages.
“This year, we're excited to introduce a new self-guided exhibit, America 250: The Moments That Made Us sponsored by 4Culture,” said René Popke, General Manager of the Enumclaw Expo & Event Association. “The exhibit invites fairgoers to take a walk through the defining events, inventions, and people that shaped our nation. At the same time, one of my favorite parts of the fair continues to be our livestock barns, where hundreds of local youth proudly showcase the animals they've spent months raising and caring for. It's a powerful reminder that agriculture is still at the heart of our community, and the King County Fair remains one of the best places to experience that firsthand.”
General admission is $15 for adults ages 13-59, $10 for kids ages 5-12, $8 for seniors ages 60 and up, and free for kids ages five and under. Military admission is $8 with a valid military ID.
