Storefront Repair Grant

King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn with Sunny, Storefront Repair Grant recipient

On one of my regular visits to the Shell Station along SR 169 outside of Renton, I learned that it was severely damaged during a smash-and-grab robbery. I was very glad to help the business owner, Sunny, get a $5,000 Storefront Repair Grant to help repair his building and equipment!

I recently delivered a $10,000 grant for the Citizens Police Academy, a project of the City of Maple Valley, the City of Covington, and the King County Sheriff’s Office. The academy helps folks gain a better understanding of police work, including patrol procedures, 9-1-1 communications, major crime investigations, and more. This is an exciting opportunity for residents of Maple Valley, Covington, and unincorporated King County to learn more about the ins and outs of law enforcement!

2025 State of the County tour

Bellevue City Council

King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn presents to the Bellevue City Council

As the representative for a large district encompassing numerous cities, it’s important to me to stay in contact with local governments so that we can coordinate to best serve our shared constituents. To this end, in 2025 I completed a tour of city councils across District 9 to keep them informed of the latest updates from King County government and hear feedback from councilmembers. I was pleased to speak on many of the top issues facing King County today, including public safety, rising costs of living, and the county budget, as well as share about many of the investments the county has made in District 9 communities.

The Maple Valley Indian Cultural and Sports Association seeks to create opportunities for young people to excel and thrive through offerings like cricket games, self-defense classes, educational activities, and more. I was glad to provide them with a financial boost through a $5,000 Youth and Amateur Sports Grant! This funding will help them hire coaches and secure the needed facilities and equipment as they invest in the youth in our community.

Preventing youth substance abuse

Influence the Choice

King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn with Influence the Choice Executive Director Marnie Maraldo

I’m pleased to support Influence the Choice as they work to reduce drug and alcohol use among youth. They focus on addressing the root causes of substance use while providing education to parents, kids, and the broader community about various ways to prevent substance use from an early age. I’m grateful for the good work they do with families in District 9!
