About King County Energize for single family homes
King County’s Energize program installs heat pumps and other home efficiency upgrades in low and moderate income homes in King County. Eligibility is based on income and geographic boundaries as set by funding partners.
The Energize program aligns with King County’s commitments in the Strategic Climate Action Plan (SCAP):
- Energize prepares for the impacts of climate change by ensuring more people have access to cooling on hot days and heating on cold ones.
- Energize advances energy justice and reduces energy burdens in frontline communities – those communities that will experience the earliest and most severe climate impacts.
- Energize reduces greenhouse gas emissions by replacing inefficient gas and oil heating systems with cleaner electric heating and cooling.

"We cannot be happier with the King County Energize program. The cost savings for those of us who are elderly and with low incomes is truly a blessing. Thank you so much."
-Howard and Donna Briggie

Howard Briggie with his new heat pump.
Heat pumps are highly efficient heating and cooling systems that move hot air from one place to another. They've been around for 50+ years and are now the preferred heating and cooling system in Asia and much of Europe.
If you have a refrigerator, you already have heat pump technology in your home.
Ductless heating systems can save 25-50% in heating costs over traditional electric systems. They can save even more compared to oil heating systems.
I just want to say again how grateful I have been for the Energize program. Being a low-income senior is not always easy these days and I could not have afforded the heat pump, electric furnace, and weatherization I am getting for my home. Thanks to everyone involved in helping seniors and low-income families."
As a recipient of a new heat pump system, it really feels like a huge change and upgrade to our lives. The new heat pump program...makes me feel like a part of the community that we all care about best practices to help our living conditions and environment."
What an amazing gift to have heat in my home provided with grant funds! I could not have afforded it. The program made it easy to apply and go through the process. I recommend it all the time."
I'm very impressed with the system, installation, and product."
I just wanted to send you a message to let you know how much I truly appreciate and thank you for approving me and my family for the Energize program. The heat pump was installed yesterday and I am truly thankful."
