If eligible for Apple Health, you will need to select a Managed Care Organization(MCO). All MCO’s cover Essential Health Benefits including hospitalization, prescriptions, preventative, wellness services, chronic disease management, pediatric services, maternity and newborn care. Each MCO offers Value Added Benefits in addition to your health coverage.
Apple Health is open year-round. Renewal notices are mailed 60 days before coverage expires. Renew online at Washington Healthplanfinder.
Adults (19-64)–Apple Health eligibility
- Must be US citizen or legal resident for 5 years or longer
- Must be a resident of Washington state
- Income must be at or below the levels in the table below (138% Federal Poverty level)

- Income must be at or below the levels in the table below (198% FPL)
After pregnancy coverage–Apple Health eligibility
Washington State extended postpartum coverage to allow individuals to apply for and receive postpartum coverage throughout the 12-month period after their pregnancy ends. To qualify an individual must:
- Must meet pregnancy medical income and residency requirements above and
- Have had a pregnancy within the last 12 months regardless of the pregnancy outcome
- If on Apple Health during the pregnancy, coverage begins the first day of the month following the pregnancy ending
- If Not on Apple Health during the pregnancy, coverage begins the month the individual applies and is found eligible
- Not active in another Apple Health program

If you need insurance that pays for prenatal care, you can apply for "First Steps" - a State of Washington DSHS Immigration status does not apply

What if you don't qualify for one of the Apple Health programs (above)?
Washington Healthplanfinder offers health insurance with prices that are based on your income. A special enrollment period is a period of time outside the open enrollment period when you can enroll in a new health insurance plan or change your current plan. There are several circumstances where you may qualify for a special enrollment period. - Native Americans and Alaska Natives (who are enrolled in a federally recognized tribe) can enroll at any time.
