Project scope and location
The contractor will be installing additional equipment to connect power from Alki Wet Weather Treatment Station (WWTS) to the 63rd Ave Pump Station. This work will include:
- Installing a permanent generator within the property of Alki WWTS
- Laying conduit under the road along SW Hinds St, SW Wilton Ct, 64th Ave SW, and Beach Dr SW (See the dotted line in the image below ).

At the 63rd Ave Pump Station, King County will install:
- A vault to hold a new transformer
- A cabinet to protect the new transformer
- Conduits (with a protected cover) connecting the transformer to the pump station.
The transformer must be well ventilated and in a structure above the high tide and splash zone. We will work with the contractor to determine the exact height of the transformer.

What to expect during construction
Connecting the 63rd Ave Pump Station to the generator requires digging trenches along Beach Dr SW, 64th Ave SW, SW Wilton Ct, and SW Hinds St.
Construction work will occur weekdays between the hours of 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., with possible weekend work.
As work is underway, there will be:
- Limited beachfront access on the eastern side of Charles Richey Sr. Viewpoint
- Lane closures
- Traffic detours
- Flaggers and traffic control devices, such as signs and cones, to direct pedestrians and drivers
- Truck deliveries to Alki WWTS will use Beach Dr SW and turn onto Benton Pl SW to enter through the access gate
- 2 to 3 street parking spaces will be occupied by contractors during work hours
- Periodic noise from work equipment
During construction hours , residents along the active work area will experience limited driveway access. The contractor will cover the trenches with steel plates to provide residents access to their driveways outside of construction hours. We will provide advance notice to affected residents to reduce impacts to driveway access.
To ensure everyone’s safety, please do not approach the crews while they are working.
