About Energize for Adult Family Homes
The Energize for Adult Family Homes program will install heat pumps and other building improvements in 50-60 Adult Family Homes (AFH) in King County. This program will address community needs by supporting primarily low-income seniors and AFH clients, as well as AFH workers and operators, with cooling and improved indoor air-quality (IAQ) while reducing fossil fuel consumption in buildings.
In order to be eligible for this program, an Adult Family Home must be:

Located in King County, except in cities served by EnergySmart Eastside (Bellevue, Issaquah, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Sammamish, and Redmond).

An Adult Family Homes as defined in RCW 70.128.010 (1) and licensed by Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS).
King County will cover 100% of installation costs of the heat pump system. In addition to heat pump upgrades, homes may be eligible for other building upgrades such as insulation, weatherization, ventilation, and home appliances.

Applications will be reviewed up receipt, and subsequently in batches beginning on January 23, 2025. Applications will be prioritized based on the Adult Family Home’s location, existing HVAC system type, ownership structure, and percentage of Medicaid clients.
