Community Van
Metro and cities around King County are teaming up to give you a convenient, fun and affordable way to share rides with others—welcome to Community Van! Use Community Van to run errands, get to appointments, attend activities and more! Ride for the same cost as a bus ride. Or become a volunteer driver to ride for free.
Schedule a ride
Make a reservation to ride by calling or emailing your local Community Transportation Coordinator. Our vans can fit six, seven and 12 passengers, depending on vehicle availability and your needs. We also have ADA-accessible and electric vehicles in the Community Van fleet.
If you need an interpreter, we can help! Ask your coordinator to be connected to someone who speaks your language. Hearing-impaired riders can dial WA Relay at 711.

- Become an approved Community Van volunteer driver by email the completed Driver Application (Electronic Signature) to your local coordinator (emails contained in the list of cities/jurisdictions under How to schedule a ride) or King County Metro Community Van staff

Wheelchairs
Wheelchair accessible Community Vans are available on request. Each wheelchair accessible van includes a ramp and wheelchair securement. Tell the Community Van Coordinator about your needs when you schedule your trip.
Youth
Youth 18 and under ride for free! Parents and guardians must provide and install any needed car seats for their accompanying children who require a car seat according to the Washington State Child Restraint Law.
Children 13 and under who are not riding with a parent need a completed child rider agreement signed by their parents in advance of the trip. Contact your local coordinator for form access.

Vans are available to book any time of the day, any day of the week, if an approved volunteer driver is available.
Community Van is operating in the following cities, parked at specific locations within these communities. Additional service areas may be launched in the future. See the service areas section above for more information.
- Snoqualmie Valley: 9 vans total – 1 at Duvall Library, 2 at Duvall Police Department, 1 at Hauglie Insurance in Fall City, 1 at the Carnation Café in Carnation, 2 at the SnoValley Chamber of Commerce in North Bend and 2 additional locations to be announced.
- Bothell-Woodinville: 4 vans total – 2 at UW Bothell, 1 at Bothell City Hall and 1 at Woodinville City Hall.
- Vashon: 3 vans total – all at the Vashon Chamber of Commerce.
- Kenmore-Kirkland: 3 vans total – 1 at Kenmore City Hall, 1 at Kirkland City Hall and 1 at North Kirkland Community Center.
- Sammamish: 3 vans total – 2 at South Sammamish Park & Ride and 1 additional location to be announced.
- Redmond: 3 vans total – 1 at Hopelink Redmond, 1 at Avondale Transitional Housing and 1 additional location to be announced.
- Shoreline-Lake Forest Park: 3 vans total – 1 at Lake Forest Park City Halland 2 at Hopelink Shoreline.
- Algona-Pacific: 3 vans total – 2 at Algona City Hall and 1 at Pacific City Hall.
- Skyway: 3 vans total – 1 at King County Fire District 20 Admin Building, 1 at Creston Point Apartments and 1 at The Silent Task Force.
- Tukwila: 3 vans total – 2 at the Tukwila Community Center and 1 additional location to be announced.
Yes, all trips are driven by volunteer drivers and are dependent on volunteer availability. The sooner you request a trip the more likely it is that we may be able to schedule it. Please allow a minimum of at least two (2) full business days to book your trip if you need a volunteer driver. This is to allow the coordinator time to recruit a volunteer driver. If you’d like to apply to be a volunteer driver, please note it may take up to two weeks to be approved and complete the training, so keep that in mind when requesting trips and considering driving.
All trips are driven by volunteer drivers and are dependent on volunteer availability. Community Van is driven by the community for the community! Encourage people you know who may be interested to fill out a Community Van volunteer driver application.
Trips may be scheduled 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week. Trips cannot be over night and vehicles must be returned the same day. Trip destinations should be within the city or county vehicle is assigned. Trips requests that do not meet these criteria will be reviewed case-by-case by your coordinator.
There is no penalty for cancelling your ride, but please avoid doing so unless completely necessary. A volunteer driver blocked time specifically for you!
Yes. Parents/guardians must provide and install any car seats needed for their accompanying children. Youth 18 and under ride for free! Children 13 and under who are not riding with a parent are required to complete a child rider agreement in advance of the trip. Forms are available in the Driver Toolkit, or you can contact your coordinator if you have any additional questions.

Licensed service animals are welcome to ride in the vans. You must provide notice at the time of booking so your coordinator may go-over safety requirements for the service animal and riders.
