This proposal taps into the power of our arts and culture organizations to restore and activate these spaces. By doing so, we can boost local economies, reduce crime, attract more foot traffic, and foster a sense of safety and belonging. This is a meaningful step toward building a stronger, more connected future for our county.”

Zahilay leads Council approval of $10.2 billion 2025 King County budget with big investments in public safety, public health, public defense, housing, more
“As we navigate this period of economic uncertainty and a massive revenue shortfall, it’s important that we do not balance the budget on the backs of the people who rely on our services. This was a difficult budget, but we abided by smart budgeting principles while supporting critical services. We were able to keep our rainy day reserve balance at 7.8%, which is on the more conservative end of our policy range. Today’s budget vote is an investment in affordable housing, public safety, behavioral health services, climate resiliency, and so much more.”
