Sexual Assault Unit / Special Assault Unit
The King County Sheriff’s Office Special Assault Unit is responsible for investigating sexual assaults involving children and adults, child abuse, vulnerable adult abuse, and internet crimes against children (ICAC). The mission statement of SAU is “Justice for victims through compassionate, professional investigations."
The unit includes 2 sergeants, 10 detectives and 1 victim advocate. SAU detectives are on call 24 hours per day, 365 days per year, to assist patrol officers, other detective units and outside agencies with investigations. The unit works closely with federal, state, and local agencies to resolve cases as quickly as possible.
