HR Shared Services Team

The HR Shared Services team in DES provides service delivery for Records and Licensing Services (RALS), the Business Resource Center (BRC), the Office of Emergency Management (OEM), and the Office of Risk Management Services (ORMS). Our services include talent management, leave administration, ADA requests, training and organizational development, performance management, workforce equity, employee relations, and more.

Karina Cordova

Karina Cordova is a Human Resource Analyst with the Shared Services Talent Team. She joined the DES Director's Office from King County Facilities Management, where she was a Human Resources Associate. She previously served in Public Health - Seattle & King County as an Administrator II. One of her first internships was with the County Council.

She also brings five years of experience in the hospitality industry, where she developed her passion for Human Resources.

Karina was born and raised in Seattle and attended Central Washington University. Karina enjoys being near any of the numerous lakes around the area and practices yoga when she can.

She enjoys spending time with her two young children and binge-watching reality television.

Sharon Gadzik

Sharon Gadzik

Sharon Gadzik is a Human Resources Analyst for the HR Shared Services Team. In her role, Sharon supports Records and Licensing Services (RALS) as an HR generalist. She focuses on hiring, leave administration, analysis, and all areas of human resources support for the division.

Prior to her RALS assignment, Sharon spent two and a half years as an HR associate with DES, and seven years in the director's office of Public Health - Seattle & King County where she supported that department's chief administrative officer and chief of staff. Sharon spent much of her early career as a graphic artist in the print industry, and also functioned as the staff development coordinator for the Issaquah School District.

A trained vocalist, Sharon spends her off time with family and friends, hiking, and singing.

Sharon Gartrell-Henderson

Sharon Gartrell-Henderson

Sharon Gartrell-Henderson is a Human Resources Manager I, providing HR support to the Airport Division and Office of Emergency Management.

Sharon brings experience from the aviation, IT software, and health care industries as a human resources professional in systems program management, human resources field operations, and employee relations. Sharon is a true Washingtonian - she was born and raised in Seattle, attended Garfield High School, and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington State University. She enjoys watching sports, golfing, and traveling with family and friends. She frequents Tucson, Arizona throughout the year with her husband who is a devoted Arizona State alum.

Jen Irwin

Jen Irwin

Jen Irwin is the Talent Management Supervisor for the Department of Executive Services. In this role, she manages Talent Acquisition services for six DES divisions, manages a team of talent advisors and support staff, and serves as the department's Senior Talent Advisor for recruitments for leadership positions. The Talent Management Supervisor focuses on developing and executing innovative recruiting strategies and building pipelines for competitive diverse candidates for the next generation of leadership positions.

Jen is excited to be in DES where she started her career in King County. Before returning to DES, Jen spent three years working with the Department of Local Services Roads Division as a Senior Human Resources Analyst. During her time at Roads, she gained important leadership skills and innovative recruiting strategies. Jen has a passion for finding the right jobs for the right people and ensuring equity is the driving force in all of her decision making.

Jen received her bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Central Washington University and has been a devoted public servant ever since. Prior to her arrival at King County, she worked at the Kent School District as a recruiter. She also learned about world class customer service while working at Disney World in Orlando. When she is not working, she enjoys camping, hiking, cooking, OrangeTheory, traveling, playing with her pug and hanging out with her husband. She loves sports and is very passionate about the Seattle Mariners, Washington State Cougars, and San Francisco 49ers.

Brittney Marzest

Brittney Marzest

Brittney Marzest is a Talent Advisor supporting the Human Resources Shared Services team. She worked in Human Resources for nine years in program management and talent acquisition roles before joining King County. She previously worked at Seattle University and at Nordstrom. Early on her in career she discovered her passion for Human Resources and supporting people processes. Brittney finds great joy in finding the best talent and supporting hiring managers. She received her Master of Science in Human Resource Management from the University of Southern California.

Brittney is a Seattle native and grew up in the Central District. In her spare time, Brittney enjoys reading novels and cooking.

Lisa McFarlane

Lisa McFarlane

Lisa McFarlane helps the Talent Advisors coordinate employee recruitments from start to finish, from posting positions, scheduling and onboarding new employees.

Lisa started with King County in 2012 in Records and Licensing Services as Administrative Specialist III for the Archives, Records Management, and Mail Services (ARMMS) section. A year later she moved to the RALS Director's Office where she held multiple positions including Fiscal Specialist III, Business Finance Officer I, and Administrator I. Before coming to King County, she worked in various roles in customer service and as an Accounts Payable Supervisor for a cellular phone service provider.

Lisa was born and raised in Seattle. She has been married for more than 25 years and is the mother of three children. Outside of work, she spends lots of time with family and at high school sporting events. She loves to read, draw, do calligraphy, and enjoys murder mysteries and scary movies.

Megan Rulien

Megan Rulien

Megan Rulien is a Senior Human Resources Business Partner on the HR Shared Services team. She administers employee leaves, such as medical leave, for the Shared Services divisions and supports employees with requests for workplace accommodations.

Megan started her career at King County in DES in 2015. She left the department in November 2020, after serving in an acting HR Analyst role, to join the Department of Local Services (DLS) as a Human Resources Analyst and later a Senior Human Resources Analyst. She returned to the DES Director’s Office in late 2023.

She graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She and her husband, Chris, have one child, Roen, and live in West Seattle. They enjoy trailer camping and keeping their busy toddler entertained. When Megan is not busy entertaining her toddler, she enjoys cooking, reading, reality TV, and obsessing about interior design. 

Kelli Williams

Kelli Williams

Kelli Williams is the Human Resources Manager for the Department of Executive Services. She leads a team of HR professionals who provide direct support to the nine divisions and offices within DES. Kelli joined the DES Leadership Team from the Office of Risk Management Services (ORMS) where she served as a deputy director focusing on open government and transparency programs including the Public Records and Ethics Programs.

Prior to working in ORMS, Kelli was the director of the Office of Civil Rights working to enforce the county's Fair Employment, Fair Housing and Public Accommodation ordinances. Kelli joined King County in 1997 in the Department of Judicial Administration and has held various roles in the Prosecuting Attorney's Office in both the Civil and Criminal Divisions.

Kelli enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband Jeff and dog Millie, and loves to cook, read, wine taste, and travel.

Drew Woolley

Drew Woolley

Drew Woolley is an Employee and Labor Relations Representative on the Shared Services team, currently working part time in that role. He brings more than eight years of experience at Snohomish County PUD, where most recently he was the Recruiting and Compensation Supervisor. He also worked in employee/labor relations, Human Resources Information Systems, diversity, equity and inclusion and HR project management/strategic planning at Snohomish County PUD. Prior to that Drew was a store manager at Starbucks, where he was responsible for low-level HR responsibilities, such as onboarding, benefits enrollment, recruiting, and payroll, in addition to managing the business and employees.

He has a dual concentration in Human Resources Management and Finance from the University of Washington School of Business. 

He and his wife, Danielle, have two children, Dru and Desmond. As a family they enjoy hiking, vacationing, and new experiences. Drew and his wife also enjoy endurance sports such as running, biking, and swimming. The couple has completed a full marathon together.
