Dunn Celebrates Nearly $4 Million in Parks Levy Grants Announced for Southeast King County

July 24, 2025

Today, King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn praised the announcement of nearly $4 million in Parks Levy Grants and Youth and Amateur Sports Grants for Council District 9 recipients in Southeast King County. The funding is part of a competitive grant process that will support critical community projects across the region.

“I’m thrilled to see projects like the Covington Aquatic Center and the Enumclaw Pool receive critical funding to continue serving our community,” said King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn. “District 9 residents have paid forthese grant programs, and it is good to see the funds come back into our region.”

The announcement includes over $1 million in funding for the Enumclaw Pool and Covington Aquatic Center, as well as nearly $3 million more in funding for projects like the Jenkins Creek Trail in Covington, Henry’s Switch Park in Maple Valley, EarthCorps’ Green Stewards Program, and the Auburn Narrows Trail.

“I’m thrilled to see continued investment in Covington’s future with nearly three-quarters of a million dollars in funding for our Aquatic Center and another million for the Jenkins Creek Trail,” Covington Mayor Jeff Wagner said. “This funding will allow us to continue to improve services for our community and ensure that families have access to safe, recreational and outdoor spaces. I want to thank Councilmember Reagan Dunn for his continued advocacy on behalf of Covington.”

The awards were announced as part of a larger package transmitted to the King County Council for consideration by King County Executive Shannon Braddock. In total, the announcement proposed $31.4 million in Parks Levy funding that would modernize aquatic centers, enhance parks and trails, restore river corridors, and expand access to outdoor recreation. The King County Parks Levy has generated a combined $88.6 million for community grants since it was approved by voters in August 2019.

“The Enumclaw Pool is an important facility where our community comes together for activities for all age groups” said Enumclaw Mayor Jan Molinaro. “Whether it’s learning to swim, or competitive school sports to staying healthy, the pool reaches so many families. I’d like to extend my thanks to Councilmember Reagan Dunn and King County Parks for their work ensuring Enumclaw’s recreational facilities receive the support they need to thrive and continue to serve our citizens.”

The King County Council is expected to vote on the Parks Levy funding proposal later this year. In total, the announcement included grant funding for nine projects listed below:
