Nightly closures of Runway 14R/32L this month

Project runs July 13-19

Runway 14R/32L, also known as the main or large runway, will be closed nightly from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. local Pacific time starting July 13 through July 19. The associated taxiways will also be closed. These closures are needed to complete runway pavement grooving and marking work.

Along with the runway closure, Taxiway Alpha will be closed between A-6 and A-9. Taxiway Bravo will be closed for its full length.

What to expect:

  • Contractor crews will be performing runway grooving each night, followed by pavement marking restoration in completed areas.
  • Select nights will include restriping of runway hold short markings, Surface Painted Holding Position Signs (SPHSS), taxiway centerlines, and enhanced taxiway centerlines on Taxiway Alpha (A-7/A-8) and Taxiway Bravo (B-2–B-9).
  • Runway Closure "X" boards will be placed by Airport Maintenance during the closure periods.

All work areas will be coordinated with Airport Operations prior to each nightly closure. Schedules are subject to change based on weather, contractor progress, and operational requirements. Updates will be shared as needed.

NOTAMs will be posted.

We appreciate your patience as we complete this important maintenance work. If you have questions or anticipate operational impacts, please reach out to Airport Operations at 206-296-7334 or AirportOps@kingcounty.gov.
