Grant timeline
Timelines for the competitive track and council track can be found below.
The competitive and council grant tracks have historically opened for applications every other year in odd-numbered years. Starting in 2025, we began transitioning to an even-year schedule to better align with King County’s budgeting and legislative timelines.
The council track opened for applications in July 2025. Additional cycles are planned for Summer 2026 and 2028.
The competitive grant cycle will open for applications in August 2025. See the timeline below for details. Following this cycle, the next opportunity to apply for grants through the competitive process will be in fall 2027, with awards in 2028.
For both competitive and council grants, grant recipients will have 2-4 years from the time of the award to complete projects.

2025/26/27 Competitive track timeline
The 2025/26/27 cycle will be a 2-step application process that starts with submitting a Letter of Intent. After the 2025/26/27 cycle, the next competitive grant cycle will open for applications in Fall 2027, with funds awarded in 2028.

2025 Council track timeline
The 2025 Council track is a 1-step application process. After the 2025 cycle, the next Council grant cycle is anticipated to start in mid-2026, with funds awarded in late 2026 or early 2027.
