Recognizing Thomas Hearne

Story
RECOGNITIONWHEREAS, King County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) provides EMS and regional services to all of King County outside the city of Seattle; and
WHEREAS, King County’s EMS is internationally recognized for excellence; and
WHEREAS, Thomas “Tom” Hearne has served as the EMS Division Director for 15 years and been part of the EMS team for over 30 years; and
WHEREAS, under Tom’s leadership, the EMS system’s strength and stature grew significantly, driven by the research and evidence-based approach that he championed; and
WHEREAS, Tom forged notable partnerships with both the University of Washington and Harborview Medical Centers for research and paramedic training, and he is well-known for his daily interactions with ground-level EMS providers; and
WHEREAS, although we miss him at King County EMS, we know he is enjoying retirement with his wonderful wife Carol, children and grandchildren;
NOW, THEREFORE, we, the Metropolitan King County Council, recognize
THOMAS R. HEARNE
for all he has done to enhance public health in King County and thank him his for his many years of distinguished leadership and service.
