The Budget and Fiscal Management Committee held four evening meetings after receiving the Executive Proposed 2011 Budget from County Executive Dow Constantine on September 27. Hosted by Councilmember Julia Patterson, Chair of the Budget Committee, more than 400 people shared their budget priorities at the meetings in Seattle at the King County Courthouse, Bellevue, Snoqualmie and Kent. Many who attended spoke in support of public safety and continued funding for human service programs.
The Budget Committee’s three panels— General Government, Law and Justice, and Health & Human Services—have completed their review of criminal justice and health and human service agencies, and their assessment of the budgets of all the separately-elected officials and general government operations.
This will be the final public hearing before the Council adopts the final King County Budget. The budget vote is scheduled to take place on Monday, November 22, the Monday before Thanksgiving.
