Story
Following today’s news that Boeing and the Machinists union reached an agreement that ensures production of the Boeing 737 MAX will be in Renton, Metropolitan King County Councilmember Bob Ferguson issued the following statement commending the parties:“This announcement is great news and keeps good living wage jobs in the aerospace industry here in King County. The willingness of the Machinists and Boeing management to work together exemplifies the kind of effort we need to continue to grow our economy.
“As the son of a 40-year Boeing employee, I know how important Boeing is to our economy and our identity as a region. I’m particularly pleased that Boeing recognized the value of the expertise, experience, and productivity our local Machinists bring in getting the job done.”
In October, the King County Council approved legislation providing funding for the King County Aerospace Alliance, a regional effort to strengthen and grow the local aerospace industry.
