King County Parks Receives $750,000 State Grant for Northshore Athletic Fields
Summary
Story
On Thursday, July 25, State Senator Andy Hill presented a symbolic check for $750,000 to local little leaguers for improvements to the Northshore Athletic Fields.
Accepting the check was Helen Jackson, President of the Woodinville Little League, King County Parks Director Kevin Brown and King County Councilmember Jane Hague.
The funding is a grant from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office and will cover needed improvements at the fields, including restroom facilities, equipment storage, handicapped access, batting cages, a concessions stand, and field improvements. The ball fields are managed under a public/private partnership with King County Parks.
"Thank you Senator Hill for all your help on behalf of the children of our community," said Helen Jackson. "This allows us to make our vision for this park a reality."
Senator Hill noted the "importance of investing in our youth and our future."
"This is about the kids and a great example of the community, county and state working together to provide for their needs in these challenging times," said Councilmember Hague.
The improvements will start immediately and are expected to be completed in the next two years.
