von Reichbauer awarding scholarships for 9/11 essay

Summary

Students asked to write about impact of attack and importance of remembering the event

Story

Metropolitan King County Council Pete von Reichbauer is sponsoring a youth (ages 16-22) essay contest on the impact the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 had on America and the world.

The two winners of the contest, which is open to all youth 16-22 years old, will receive a $500 scholarship.

The 9/11 attacks in New York, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania, killed thousands, but the response to the attacks brought people from around the world together.

von Reichbauer is asking young people to send an essay—500 word maximum—on the topic of why it is important for our community to commemorate September 11, 2001?

The essays can be submitted online at www.kingcounty.gov/vonreichbauer. Submission deadline is midnight, September 5, 2014. The essay winners will be posted on 9/11/2014 on facebook.com/pete.vonreichbauer
