While visiting Washington DC as part of a delegation of local officials from across the 9th Congressional district, Metropolitan King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer discussed our nation’s natural resources and national park system with Interior Secretary Sally Jewell.
“As a State Senator, I had the privilege of Chairing the Senate Parks & Recreation Committee, so I enjoyed discussing our regional recreational needs with Secretary Jewell,” said Councilmember von Reichbauer.
As Secretary of the Interior, Jewell leads an agency that serves as steward of approximately 20 percent of the nation’s lands, including national parks, national wildlife refuges, and other public lands. Prior to her confirmation, Jewell served as President and CEO of Recreation Equipment, Inc (REI). She is an avid outdoorsman and a graduate of the University of Washington.
