Summary
Story
For the second straight year, the members of the Metropolitan King County Council and County Executive Dow Constantine are joining Seattle Seahawks fans from around the region and around the world in showing their support as the Hawks prepare for their shot at Super Bowl history. In front of a 12th Man Flag in Council Chambers, Councilmembers and the Executive sent the team a hardy “GO HAWKS” as the Seahawks sets their sights on becoming only the eighth franchise in NFL history to win back-to-back Super Bowls. To do that, the Seahawks will need to beat the last team to repeat—the New England Patriots.
“With great pride we join King County residents in enthusiastically supporting our world champion Seattle Seahawks as they play their second Super Bowl in a row, helping to shine a national spotlight on our great region,” said Council Chair Larry Phillips. “It’s thrilling joining my fellow ‘12s’ in cheering on our remarkable team! Go Hawks!”
“It would be hard to match the most exciting NFL playoff game ever, but the Seahawks have shown a flair for the dramatic,” said Executive Constantine. “The 12s now look forward to seeing the Hawks deflate the Patriots, and make history as repeat Super Bowl champions. Go Hawks.”
“The Seahawks are living proof that teamwork and perseverance pay off,” said Council Vice Chair Jane Hague. “After another magical season, I say “Go Seahawks!”
“The Seahawks are a remarkable team that faced steep challenges and still met their goal of returning to the Super Bowl,” said Councilmember Larry Gossett. “I join with the 12th Man in sending a ‘GO HAWKS’ so loud that it will be heard all the way in Arizona!!”
“I’m so excited for a ‘re-pete’ on Sunday of last year’s Super Bowl,” said Councilmember Kathy Lambert. “This is truly a thrilling time for our entire region. Go Hawks!”
“From the fronts of our Metro buses to the tops of the cranes across our skyline, the support and civic pride our region has for our Seahawks is impossible to miss” said Councilmember Rod Dembowski. “For the second year in a row it is remarkable to watch our county come together behind one of the most unique and talented sports franchises in the nation. Even for the casual sport fan, it is hard not to get caught up in the excitement and emotion of a second straight Super Bowl run. Go Hawks!”
Councilmember Joe McDermott yelled “SEA!!” – “HAWKS!!” responded Councilmember Reagan Dunn.
The flag displayed in chambers will be hoisted up the flagpole in front of the County Administration Building on January 30, when the County declares that Friday is Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl Blue Friday in King County!
