Council recognizes Doug Hoople for his service to the County on the King County Veterans Program Advisory Board

Doug Hoople advocated for support of underserved veteran populations, such as minorities and women; for victims of military sexual trauma and traumatic brain injury; and for veterans involved in the legal system

RECOGNITION

WHEREAS, Douglas Hoople served his country as a member of the United States Navy for 20 years, starting as an airman recruit and retiring as a Lieutenant Commander; and

WHEREAS, Doug Hoople served the people of King County as a member of the King County Veterans Citizen Oversight Board, which oversees the Veterans Levy; and

WHEREAS, Doug Hoople has been a member of the Board since its creation in 2007 and has served as the board’s Chair for six years; and

WHEREAS, Doug Hoople advocated for support of underserved veteran populations, such as minorities and women; for victims of military sexual trauma and traumatic brain injury; and for veterans involved in the legal system; and

WHEREAS, Doug Hoople played a major role in the inclusion of Military Family Counseling services in the renewed Levy to support all family members before, during, and after deployment of a loved one; and

WHEREAS, Doug Hoople was also a member the King County Veterans Program Advisory Board, where he was a strong advocate on issues of concern to veterans and of the need for enhanced services for veterans; and

WHEREAS, as Doug Hoople retires from the Veterans Citizen Oversight Board, the members of the board and King County will miss his goodwill, dedication, and leadership;

NOW, THEREFORE, we, the Metropolitan King County Council, recognize and congratulate

DOUGLAS HOOPLE

upon his retirement from County service and wish him well in the next chapter of his life.
