Council approves transfer of surplus vanpool vans to organizations in District 4
Summary
“These vans still have a lot of life left in them and I’m glad to see them put to good use serving our County residents.”
Story
Metropolitan King County Councilmember Jeanne Kohl-Welles announced today that four organizations that serve Council District 4 will receive retired Metro Transit Vanpool vans to provide transportation assistance for low-income, older adults, young people or people with disabilities.“I am thrilled to be able to provide these community partners with a retired vanpool van,” said Kohl-Welles. “These vans still have a lot of life left in them and I’m glad to see them put to good use serving our County residents.”
The programs that will be receiving vans are:
• Mary's Place
• Rite of Passage Journeys
• Seattle's Union Gospel Mission
• The Arc of King County
The vanpool program provides mobility for a diverse array of King County residents, supports the positive work of various local organizations, and relieves traffic congestion by reducing the need for single-occupancy vehicles.
Interested organizations can contact Councilmember Kohl-Welles for more information on applying for a vehicle.
