Metropolitan King County Councilmember Kathy Lambert joined King County Elections Director Julie Wise and Michele Drovdahl of the King County Library System on July 24 to officially open a new ballot drop box at the Fall City Library, one of several new drop box locations across King County installed prior to the August 1 primary election.
“As the local government for the community of Fall City, King County has a responsibility to make sure residents are able to access key services and exercise their right to vote,” said Lambert. “I am very happy that Fall City residents will be able to access the convenience of a ballot drop box for the upcoming primary election and in the future.”
“There shouldn't be any barriers to returning your ballot,” said Director Wise. “This Fall City ballot drop box and the 53 others for this year's Primary Election will make it easier than ever to vote in King County.”
The Fall City Library drop box is part of King County’s initiative to increase the number of drop boxes. A total of 54 drop boxes opened for this year’s Primary Election, with the Fall City location being one of the new locations in unincorporated King County.
Ballot drop boxes are a tool to improve voter access and convenience. Of the 54 drop boxes in the county, 22 of them are located at public libraries. Eight drop boxes are located in unincorporated King County.
As of the August primary, about 94 percent of King County residents live within three miles of a drop box.
