2019 Youth and Amateur Grants Cycle Opens in January

King County has announced the next opening of the Youth and Amateur Sports Grants (YASG) will occur in January 2019, when Letters of Intent will be due. The site officially opens on January 2, 2019.

YASG are designed to support fit and healthy communities through investing in program and capital improvements that reduce barriers to physical activity. Grant funds can only be used for programs or capital projects that increase access to health-enhancing physical activities. Since 1993, King County has awarded roughly $15 million in grants, creating nearly 350 new or renovated youth sports facilities throughout the county.

“Keeping our youth engaged and physically active helps build stronger neighborhoods and promotes community health,” said Metropolitan King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer. “I have been pleased at the variety of activities that have been funded in King County and the positive effect they have had on our youth.”

Last year, four programs in the Auburn area received grants, including:
• The Auburn School District - $37,000 for Washington Elementary playground;
• City of Auburn – REC Riders – Mountain Bike - $40,000;
• City of Auburn – Game Farm Park Field Lighting - $150,000; and
• Washington Youth Soccer Association – Auburn Mini-Pitches - $100,000.
