Councilmember Kathy Lambert is releasing the following statement to clarify comments made earlier to KUOW Public Radio.

Story

“First and foremost, I did not, nor would I ever attack Ms. Faber or question the sincerity of her allegations. As a survivor of domestic abuse, I would never do that.

“Every accusation of sexual assault, harassment or domestic violence deserves to be heard, taken seriously and investigated thoroughly.

“The #MeToo movement has rightfully sparked a much needed conversation in our country about sexual harassment and sexual assault, not just in the workplace but in society at large. That conversation is long overdue. I hope this conversation will lead to a society where nobody will have to live through these difficult and painful experiences.

“A lot of people are living in pain, some for many years. I was one of those people, who with the help of counselors, family and friends I have learned how to live with less pain. I believe every woman deserves that same opportunity and, as a county, we must do more to promote healing and resolution for all survivors.”
