Haz Waste Program named EPA Safer Choice Partner of the Year for 7th year in a row

Proud to be a 2023 Safer Choice Partner of the Year award winner!

The Hazardous Waste Management Program (Haz Waste Program) is pleased to accept the 2023 Safer Choice Partner of the Year award for the seventh year in a row. Safer Choice is a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) program that helps individuals, businesses, and other entities identify cleaning and chemical products that are healthier for people, pets, and the planet. The award acknowledges the Haz Waste Program’s commitment to educating and partnering with communities across King County to identify safer product alternatives. Through a range of educational workshops, outreach campaigns, and community partnerships, the program has demonstrated its commitment to the health and environmental goals of the Safer Choice label.

“We’re thrilled to receive the 2023 Partner of the Year award,” said Director Maythia Airhart. “Our central mission is to foster a healthier, cleaner Puget Sound region—especially among our most vulnerable communities—and to be acknowledged for this important work is a great honor.”
