King County Continuity of Government Plan

Learn more about our Continuity of Government (COG) Plan that focuses on government during and after emergencies that may impact the normal guidance.

The King County Continuity of Government (COG) Plan addresses the continuation, resumption, and recovery of King County Government, and focuses on critical areas pertaining to government continuity:

  • Succession of leadership
  • Emergency authority
  • Command and control

The COG Plan identifies how the responsibilities of King County Government, as defined by the Washington State Constitution and the King County Charter, will be preserved, maintained, or reconstructed in the event of a disaster or other event. Much of the content of the COG Plan is derived from or a direct excerpt of provisions in the King County Charter and King County Code.

The COG Plan is not a Continuity of Operations (COOP) Plan.
