Eligibility
General requirements
- Must have availability, be willing to quit, or take a leave of absence from current job in order to complete 6 – 12 week JumpStart paid work-based learning role for 240 hours
- Must be between the ages of 18 – 24 on first day
- Must have a high school diploma or GED (option to earn through training program)
- Must have required work documents: physical Social Security Card and a Photo ID (WA ID, driver’s license, passport, or school ID)
Background requirements
- No history of convictions for violent offenses (misdemeanor or felony)
- No history of convictions for sexually related offenses (misdemeanor or felony)
- No history of convictions for identity theft (misdemeanor or felony)
- Minimum 2 year gap since any criminal offenses (pending or resolved)
Role requirements
JumpStart has opportunities in trade roles and office roles. There are different requirements for each role.
Trades role requirements
- Must have driver’s license
- Must have reliable transportation (personal vehicle strongly preferred)
- Must apply to 2 apprenticeships
Office role requirements
- Can work fully remote or in a virtual/in-person hybrid environment
- Willing to take additional computer-based knowledge training
- Strong computer skills
- Strong communication skills
What's involved for JumpStart trainees?
- Complete a 6 to 12 week skills training program with one of our training partners:
- Attend 12 hours of JumpStart workshops, including:
- Climate 101
- Clean Energy 101
- Preparing for Work-Based Learning
- Work with an employer in a 240-hour internship paid at $25/hour
- Employment or apprenticeship: Get hired at your work-based learning site, attend hiring events, and get assistance applying for apprenticeships and employment.
