As a third generation Washington alumnus, I am saddened by President Emmert’s departure. Clearly, heading the NCAA is a great opportunity.

The University of Washington is our region’s most important institution, the foundation of the prosperity and high quality of life we enjoy, and a world leader in research.

Finding another strong leader for the UW is vital to maintaining the school’s premier status and building on the impressive legacy of President Emmert. I thank him for his service to the school and wish him the best in his role with the NCAA.
