The King County Executive’s Office, Seattle Mayor’s Office, and City Council invite applicants for the newly formed Seattle-King County Taxicab Advisory Commission (King County Code 2.200 and Seattle Municipal Code 3.73.030).
The Seattle-King County Taxicab Advisory Commission was established in 2010 to study regulations, rules, policies and issues relevant to the provision of high-quality taxicab service in the City of Seattle and King County. Their role will be to ensure the economic viability owning and driving taxicabs, and to make recommendations to the City of Seattle and King County on these matters.
There are eleven seats on the advisory commission. Five of the seats are appointed by King County, five by the City of Seattle, and one is appointed by the other members of the commission.
Membership includes:
- Three members who represent taxicab license owners;
- Three members who represent taxicab drivers but not license owners, and who have not been an owner within the previous five years;
- Three members who represent the hospitality and/or tourism industry and medical facilities as clients of taxicabs;
- One member who is a person with a disability and/or represents persons with disabilities; and
- One member who is a person over the age of 60 and/or represents persons over the age of 60.
Members serve without compensation. Interested applicants for the City of Seattle must either work or live in the City of Seattle for the City appointments.
Those interested in applying for the Taxicab Advisory Commission should complete and return an online application or pick up an application from the City of Seattle Customer Service Bureau Counter, 1st floor, Seattle City Hall or King County Administration Building, Department of Executive Services 500 Fourth Ave Room 401. Applications must be received by Friday, September 17, 2010 and may be submitted in-person, via U.S. Postal Service, e-mail or fax.
