Story
The King County Archives, the official repository of historical county government records, will host an open house as a celebration to recognize Archives Month, 2010:
1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 20
1215 E. Fir Street, Seattle WA
(between 12th and 13th Avenues, one block North of E. Yesler Way)
The open house is an opportunity to see behind the scenes at the Archives, get a first hand view of current projects and take a look at recent acquisitions. The open house provides a chance to find out how King County historical records are preserved and used, and how technology is being integrated into historical record-keeping processes. At the open house, expect to find intriguing displays and interactive activities.
Since its establishment in 1989, the Archives have preserved records that affect families’ lives inside and outside the home, such as housing and real estate records, property files and information, and records on businesses in King County. These records help researchers better understand the places where people have lived, worked, or traveled throughout the county, as well as the ownership and transactional history of structures, facilities and land countywide.
King County Archives is located at 1215 East Fir Street in Seattle. For more information, visit the Archives’ Web site at https://www.kingcounty.gov/archives
