Proposed Wastewater Reductions to Water Quality & Industrial Waste Monitoring Programs

2011 Executive Proposed Budget

Proposed Wastewater Reductions to Water Quality & Industrial Waste Monitoring Programs

The Wastewater Treatment Division (WTD) 2011 Sewer Rate assumed a total of $1.5 million in reductions to Water Quality (WQ) and Industrial Waste (IW) monitoring programs.  These reductions were proposed as part of the effort to kept rates as low as possible.  COLA and other cost savings allowed the restoration of approximately $275,000 in monitoring activities while maintaining the adopted sewer rate.  The add backs focused on monitoring that helps to protect public health and safety, identify emerging water quality problems and sources of pollution, evaluate the effectiveness of land use regulations and capital projects, and inform future water quality investments.
