King County Executive Dow Constantine today responded to Metropolitan King County Council Chair Larry Phillips' announcement that he will not seek reelection:
"King County Councilmember Larry Phillips has been a true leader on issues from providing quality transit, to managing growth and protecting the environment, to delivering public services in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
"Larry’s fair, even-handed style of conducting business and leading meetings set the right tone and a good example for all of his colleagues during his nearly three decades of legislative service, both in the Courthouse and in Olympia.
"Councilmember Phillips has created a commendable legacy of critical natural areas preserved for generations to come, of dedicated funding for arts and culture, and of strong communities bolstered by his hard work and dedication as a Councilmember.
"I congratulate Larry on his long, successful tenure as an elected leader and wish him well on a productive nine months of legislating still to come."
