About the Department of Human Resources

The Department of Human Resources’ mission is to provide strategic human resources leadership, modernize systems, and deliver customer-focused services designed to support the management, growth, and development of the King County workforce. 

We support King County departments which include HR managers and HR subject matter experts. Our services and programs assist leaders and HR professionals throughout the County in their work in accomplishing their organizational goals.

About King County

As the only county in the United States named after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., one of the most influential civil rights leaders in our nation's history, King County is a vibrant community with residents that represent countries from around the world.

King County has 19 departments that provide regional services to all residents of King County, including people who live in cities and the unincorporated areas.

  • King County International Airport (Boeing Field)

With the voter-approved merger of Metro and King County, county government has also assumed the responsibility for public transit and sewage disposal.

 
  • With over 2.25 million residents, King County is the 13th largest county in the United States in terms of population. There are more people living in King County than in 15 states.
  • At 2,130 square miles, the county covers more territory than the states of Rhode Island or Delaware.
