Sammamish Plateau Diversion
The Sammamish Plateau Diversion Project will build new wastewater infrastructure to serve the growing East Lake Sammamish area.
Project description
The Sammamish Plateau Diversion Project will create new infrastructure to manage some wastewater flows from the East Lake Sammamish area. Currently, wastewater flows from the Sammamish Plateau travel to South Treatment Plant in Renton. When the project is finished, a portion of those flows will travel north to King County’s Brightwater Treatment Plant.
This project will add capacity to serve current and future populations in a busy, growing area.
Project update
January 16, 2025
Geotechnical crews are scheduled to work along East Lake Sammamish Parkway on Friday, January 17 starting at 9 a.m. Crews will be performing seasonal groundwater monitoring and inspecting monitoring wells. This work will result in temporary single-lane closures along East Lake Sammamish Parkway as crews work at each well. This work is expected to take up to one day.
What to expect
The work will be scheduled between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. during the work week (Monday-Friday) and is expected to take up to one day. This work will require temporary single-lane or turn-lane closures on East Lake Sammamish Parkway Northeast between Northeast 49th Place and Northeast Inglewood Hill Road (see map below). There will be message signs on East Lake Sammamish Parkway Northeast with advance notice of closures.
During this work, flaggers will direct travel throughout the area. The contractor will maintain local and emergency access. Flaggers will treat school buses as an emergency vehicle to reduce delays.
Approximate location of work activities
We anticipate that crews will temporarily close a single lane or turn lane along East Lake Sammamish Parkway Northeast. This map shows the approximate closure and work locations.
