Executive Constantine announces purchase of up to 120 battery-electric buses from New Flyer of America, Inc.
King County Metro announces agreement to purchase 40 battery-electric buses and plans to purchase 80 more from New Flyer of America, Inc. in the coming year for a total estimated cost of $130 million. This fleet order is Metro’s first big step in responding to the climate crisis in accordance with the county’s Strategic Climate Action Plan.

Introduced today, HB 2907 grants King County new authority to create a progressive payroll tax on large businesses whose employees earn more than $150,000 per year. The legislation could allow the County to generate approximately $121 million annually for housing, homelessness, public safety, and behavioral health services across the region.
