Crisis Negotiation Team
King County’s Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) is comprised of two sergeants, three team leaders and 15 negotiators for whom crisis negotiation is an ancillary duty. The team has advanced training in de-escalation, active listening, intelligence gathering and risk analysis.
CNT deploys with an integrated Mental Health Professional, a dedicated mobile Negotiation Operations vehicle and can establish communication through a variety of hard-wired or wireless systems. CNT is called upon for barricaded subjects with or without hostages or victims, persons who are suicidal or in a critical mental health crisis, and they routinely deploy with Tac-30 for planned warrants.
The team trains monthly and is available for callouts 24/7.
