Thanksgiving holiday closures and service impacts

King County government offices will be closed to observe Thanksgiving on the fourth Thursday and Friday of November. All offices will be back on a normal schedule the following Monday.

In 2026, Thanksgiving will be on Thursday, November 26.

Transit

• Check Metro bus and transit holiday service information to see if service is different for Thanksgiving. 
• Check Water Taxi schedules to see if there is service for Thanksgiving:
  • Vashon Island to Seattle
  • West Seattle to Seattle
• Metro offices will be closed. This includes customer service, lost and found, and pass sales. 

Courts

District Court, Superior Court, and the Superior Court Clerk’s office will be closed on Thursday and Friday.

Other services

• Solid waste facilities and transfer stations will be closed on Thursday.
• Contact your garbage collection service provider for information on collections.
