Work moving forward at new RASKC facility

April 14, 2026

Renovations to the new Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC) shelter location in Kent continue to move ahead on schedule. On April 2, members of the RASKC team met on-site with the county's Facilities Management Division (FMD) and the design team to look at draft floorplans and get an idea of what the flow through the building will look like. Temporary cat adoptions building opens March 27

March 23, 2026

The Cat Adoptions Building, a newly-refurbished trailer at Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC), will open on March 27 to receive incoming cats and allow adopters to once again choose a new furry feline friend on-site at the Pet Adoption Center in Kent. During the December 2025 storms, the cat building at the Pet Adoption Center suffered damage that rendered it unusable. Since then, RASKC has been unable to accept new cats for sheltering. First phase of new shelter project underway

King County announces location for new animal shelter, providing quality care and helping pets find "fur-ever" homes

King County has purchased a building that will be the new animal shelter and headquarters for Regional Animal Services. The facility, located at 5920 S. 194th St. in Kent, is slated to open in 2027 and will replace the current aging pet adoption center. Read more at Tails From RASKC
